There's something about the evening that gives it an edge that the days cannot match. The most obvious answer would be the darkness, but I feel like it’s so much more than the lack of light. If I had to pick one word to describe it I would say reckless. For better or worse, when darkness falls so do our inhibitions. We can throw off our respectable facade and give in to our darker sides. But even with the thrill of letting loose, I've always felt like the evenings are somewhat double edged.

Where there is excitement and intrigue, there is also chaos and danger. Night brings with it a certain madness that is glossed over in the bright light of day. The darkness provides more places to hide, and increases the number of places to avoid, especially when alone. The shadows make our palms sweat and our hearts race, but I suppose that could be a good thing depending on the situation. You could lose your shirt with a winning hand, and win it all with one wrong move.

Therein lies the beauty. Every glance is a gamble, every step a dare, and whether you want to admit it or not, we've all got a little risk junkie deep inside. It's just a matter of time before it's the right night to take the plunge.
